Hi friends,
I just love this from Oswald Chambers and wanted to finish the year on this note.
You shall not go out with haste, . . . for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard —
Isaiah 52:12Security from Yesterday. “. . . God requires an account of what is past” (Ecclesiastes 3:15). At the end of the year we turn with eagerness to all that God has for the future, and yet anxiety is apt to arise when we remember our yesterdays. Our present enjoyment of God’s grace tends to be lessened by the memory of yesterday’s sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future. God reminds us of the past to protect us from a very shallow security in the present.
Security for Tomorrow. “. . . the Lord will go before you . . . .” This is a gracious revelation— that God will send His forces out where we have failed to do so. He will keep watch so that we will not be tripped up again by the same failures, as would undoubtedly happen if He were not our “rear guard.” And God’s hand reaches back to the past, settling all the claims against our conscience.
Security for Today. “You shall not go out with haste . . . .” As we go forth into the coming year, let it not be in the haste of impetuous, forgetful delight, nor with the quickness of impulsive thoughtlessness. But let us go out with the patient power of knowing that the God of Israel will go before us. Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ.
Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.
Happy New Year friends. I hope you will join me in the New Year for some motivation and organization.

Happy Christmas Friends,
Many of you have asked for my recipe for Greek Chicken Soup and here it is
. Ingredients
- 1 (3 pound) whole chicken
- 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 2-3 lemons, juiced
Directions
Rinse the chicken and remove any organs that may be inside. Place in a pot large enough for the chicken to move around, but not too much room or the broth will be watery. Add the chicken neck if that is included with your chicken. Fill with enough water to cover by about 1 inch. Cover and bring to a boil. When boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
When the chicken is done, the meat should pull from the bones easily. Transfer the bird to a large bowl and set aside to cool. Add the rice, and season the broth with salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat for 20 more minutes, or until rice is tender.
Whisk the eggs with the lemon juice in a bowl. When the rice is done, turn off the heat. Whisk one ladle full of hot broth into the eggs slowly so the eggs do not curdle. Gradually whisk in more broth until the egg mixture is heated. Then pour the egg mixture back into the pot, whisking briskly. The result should be a creamy, cloudy looking soup. You may season with additional salt, pepper or lemon juice at this point.
You may add pieces of chicken to the soup before serving or serve soup with salted chicken on the side.

Happy Monday,
I know everyone is hustling and bustling around town as you put the finishing touches on your Christmas shopping, baking wrapping and shipping.
I'm ready to sit back and enjoy all the work of decorating, how about you?
Here are a few beautifully decorated mantels to admire. Mine is always blank, because it's so narrow and the TV takes up too much space. Perhaps these ideas will get me ready to find a way to decorate for next year. HA!
How did you decorate your mantel?

Hi friends,
I have a few pictures to share from two wonderful Christmas events.
The first event was held at Cornerstone Christian Church in Wyckoff, NJ and the second one was held at Ada Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Ladies, I can't tell you how beautiful each room was and how wonderful it was to see all of the creativity at each table.
Seeing all of this beauty reminded me of
Psalm 90:17
"May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands" (NIV).
It was easy to see how God uses creativity to influence others and to bring glory to Himself through the work and sacrifice each lady put forth. To take that thought one step further... while we get to enjoy this handiwork here and now, have you ever considered that the work we do with our hands will out live us after we have gone to dance with Jesus? Think for a moment how we still enjoy and awed by the work of great artists like Michelangelo and De Vinci.
During this season of creativity, ask yourself what work you are doing with your hands that will influence others and bring glory to God.
I hope you will take a moment to share your thoughts today.

Hi friends,
I'm literally just walking in the door from a most remarkable time in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
While the weather was very cold and blustery, the warmth of Jesus spread through each woman I had the honor of meeting and partnering with to bring the good news of the baby Jesus who was born in a manger to grow up in order to die on a tree for my sin and yours.
I'm still glowing in the warmth of His goodness and love.
If that's not a good reason to stand up and sing the Hallelujah chorus, I don't know what is.
For the last two nights I had the distinct honor of presenting the gospel to 800 plus women while encouraging them to accept, open and receive the most expensive gift ever given... Jesus.
I don't think there are adequate words to describe the depth of my humility to know there were a number of women who prayed the prayer of salvation and are now my newest sisters in Christ! Now that's a reason to celebrate from sure!!!!!
I will be sharing pieces of the video from the Expressions of Christmas Event soon, but in the meantime watch this video, turn it up and raise your voice to the heavens to celebrate the good news for yourself. I dare you...

Happy Tuesday Friends,
I'm here in snowy Grand Rapids, Michigan with the lovely ladies from Ada Bible Church.
I wanted to share this video. We're playing this song and an angelic dancer dressed in white is doing an interpretive dance at the end of each evening.
I wish each of you could be here to experience the presence of Christ for yourself.
Enjoy!
Happy Birthday to my baby boy Joseph!

Warm and toasty greetings friends. If you're stopping by after reading today's Proverbs 31 devotion, welcome. After the sweetest time ever with the ladies at Cornerstone Christian Church in Wyckoff, NJ (I'll post some pictures in a few days),
I'm on my way to Michigan to spend a few days speaking to the wonderful ladies of Ada Bible Church.
I'd venture a guess that your home is filled with the heady scent of pine boughs, sugar cookies and other seasonal favorites today. I just love the scents of this season, don't you?
In today's devotion I used the metaphor of fragrance to describe our spiritual lives.
This reminds me of the first time I met my best friend Lisa B.
Lisa was new to the neighbor and set out to meet her new neighbors. The first woman she met was kind and gracious in welcoming Lisa to the neighborhood, but she did have one warning for her. "You will want to stay away from the house on the corner there." "The lady who lives there is a Jesus Freak!" Lisa thanked the lady, then headed for the house on the corner. She made her way up the sidewalk, stepped on the front porch and rang the doorbell.
I answered the door and invited the new neighbor in. As Lisa stepped through the door, she turned and sniffed the air. She paused a moment then said "I smell Jesus." "I've been praying all morning that the Lord would lead me to a neighbor who loves Jesus, and here you are." Yep, I smell Jesus on you." Needless to say that was the start of our 23 year friendship.
What about you friend, is your life fragrance inviting and pleasant to Christ and to others?
During this season of warm and welcoming scents, I would ask you to abide in Christ in order to spread the sweet fragrance of His goodness.
Will your family and friends smell Jesus on you today?

Happy December friends,
It's December First! I can hardly believe December is already here. We are less than 25 days away from Christmas Day... Jesus' Birthday.
As I was in a rush to decorate and get our home ready for Christmas before I head out to speak to the awesome ladies in New Jersey and Michigan I ran across this thoughtful devotion. I hadn't read over this in such a long time and reading it today brought me to my knees in the middle of boxes of ornaments and yards of garland.
I pray it will cause you to realign your priorities and will cause to you ask yourself, "Are you ready?"
One day during a Christmas season when our children were small we were praying together. In that prayer I thanked the Lord for His presence with us and said "amen."
A split second after my "amen" our five-year-old daughter cried out, "Presents? Where are the presents?"
The prospects of His presence -- Emmanuel, God with you -- should excite us.
We ought to be even more thrilled than my daughter was when she thought some gift-wrapped packages had arrived.
This is the coming of our Redeemer, of our Savior, of our Passover Lamb.
Are you excited? Are you getting ready?
There's a century-old invitation gospel song that goes: "There's a great day coming . . . Are you ready for that day to come?" That Will Thompson song from the late 1800's grabbed at people's hearts.
Thousands (and perhaps millions) have come to Christ as Thompson's lyrics were being sung. Admittedly, the words weren't about Advent. They asked about being ready for the Judgment Day. Still, the song's question is a good one to ponder at Advent time: Are you ready? Am I ready?
The King is coming. Are you ready?
So friends, How are you preparing your heart, in order to be ready for His arrival?
