How would you like to be such a failure in life that failure was built into your name?
Bartimaeus was born a failure. His father was considered unclean and the fact that Bartimaeus was blind only confirmed to the Jews that he was a sinner from a family of sinners and a total failure.
However, when Jesus entered the area Bartimaeus called out loudly and continually until
Jesus stopped and addressed him asking him what he wanted.
As Bartimaeus rose from his stooped and humbled position to meet Jesus, he threw off the one thing that screamed his uncleanliness; his cloak. Notice that this blind, unclean “failure” was so confident that Jesus would heal him that he threw his "security blanket" away.
When asked what he wanted, ""the blind man said, 'Rabbi, I want to see.'"(Mark 10:51) "'Go,' said Jesus, 'your faith has healed you.'" (10:52) He received his sight immediately.
Lovely friend, do you feel like you’ve been marginalized by failure? I want to encourage you to throw off your cloak of failure and wrap yourself in the garment of faith.
