Quiet Time

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James 1:17

Roswell UMC Women's Conference

Hello my Lovelies,

Today I'm winging my way to Roswell, Georgia to meet up with some awesome ladies

If you're planning to attend, know how excited I am to meet each of you.
I can hardly contain my excitement for what the Lord
will do in each of our hearts and lives.

Hard Discipline
"The hard discipline to give thanks for all things at all times because He is all good. The hard discipline to number the griefs as grace because as the surgeon would cut open my son's finger to heal him, so God chooses to cut into my ungrateful heart to make me whole."
Ann Voskamp

This is just one of the many passages from our study this week
that brought each of us to a stand still.

What about you friend, do you struggle with the hard discipline
of seeing EVERYTHING God brings into your life
as a good thing?

Happiest Tuesday my lovelies,

Finally, I'm so excited to introduce you to
my sweetest friend Gwen.
She's a master at hiding from having her picture taken.
I snapped this one while we were working yesterday.

Check out Doris, Lynette and Henri.

These ladies are just precious!
I recently ran across this devotional from Rick Warren
on serving.

From now on if you listen obediently to the commandments that I am commanding you today, love God, your God, and serve him with everything you have within you, he'll take charge of sending the rain at the right time .... Deuteronomy 11:13-14 (MSG)

Repeatedly, the Bible says to "serve the Lord with all your heart." God wants you to serve him passionately, not dutifully. People rarely excel at tasks they don't enjoy doing or feel passionate about. God wants you to use your natural interests to serve him and others.

How do you know when you're serving God from your heart?

The first telltale sign is enthusiasm. When you're doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you, or challenge you, or check up on you. You do it for the sheer enjoyment. You don't need rewards, or applause, or to be paid, because you love serving in this way.

The opposite is also true: When you don't have a heart for what you're doing, you're easily discouraged.

One characteristic of serving God from your heart is effectiveness: whenever you do what God wired you to love to do, you get good at it. Passion drives perfection. If you don't care about a task, it is unlikely that you'll excel at it.

On the other hand, the highest achievers in any field are those who do it because of passion, not duty or profit.

We've all heard people say, "I took a job I hate in order to make a lot of money, so someday I can quit and do what I love to do." That's a big mistake. Don't waste your life in a job that doesn't express your heart.

Remember, the greatest things in life are not things. Meaning is far more important than money. The richest man in the world once said, "A simple life in the fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches" (Proverbs 15:16 MSG).

Don't settle for achieving "the good life," because the good life is not good enough. Ultimately, it doesn't satisfy. You can have a lot to live on, and still have nothing to live for. Aim instead for "the better life" - serving God in a way that expresses your heart.

Figure out what you love to do - that which God gave you a heart for - and then do it for his glory!

Quiet Time

Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Happy Weekend my Lovelies!

Happy Thursday my lovelies,
Here is the latest edition of
Styling with Gwen (who won't let anyone take her picture)
at our Habitat ReStore.
Once again our little team had a blast
putting these rooms together.

This is the AFTER of the Reading Room.

Here is the mauve bookcase from the front room.
It was moved into the Blue Room
We styled it with white dishes
made a mini desk with the pull down.

This is the BEFORE of the Left side of the Blue Room
(This room won't be dark blue much longer)

This is the AFTER of the same space

This is the BEFORE of the Right Side of the Blue Room

This is the AFTER of the same space.

That's it for styling in February.
Stay tuned for newly painted rooms.
Now, my lovelies what do you already have in your possession
you can use to bless someone else?
I can't wait to hear from you.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day
my lovelies...

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Job 34:19 who shows no partiality to princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor,
for they are all the work of his hands?

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 36:5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.

Psalm 48:9 “Within your temple, O God,
we meditate on your unfailing love.”

Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

Happy Monday my lovelies,

Here are the before and after pictures of
my latest finds
Happy early Valentines Day presents

Leopard chairs in the den with
a wobbly round table in between them.
We inherited this table a few years ago.
It's great, but needs a bit of TLC.

Here's the same scene with one of
my weekend purchases.
It's an old piece painted black with gold highlights.
This chest is perfect to offer a bit of storage.

Here is the set of nesting table
my mom graciously gave me a few years ago.
I think they are at least 25 years old.
I have them to one side of the white love seat
in my living room.
This room is such a work in progress, as there
really isn't much in this room.

This is the new set of nesting tables
I found this weekend.
Can you believe they are an identical set?
Who knew?

You can see both sets of tables.
Now I just need to figure out what else
I can do to complete this badly neglected room.
Happy early Valentine's Day to me!!

Quiet Time

The LORD bless you and keep you;

The LORD make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.

Numbers 6: 24-26

Okay my lovelies,
Here is one of the FABULOUS finds
from The Fancy Flea.
I can't wait to show you these with the matching set I already have.

Happy Weekend my lovelies!

"Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy.
Peace does not dwell in outward things,
but in the heart prepared to wait
trustfully and quietly on Him
who has all things
safely in His hands."
Elizabeth Elliot

Me thinks there is a spiritual lesson here.
Everything on our homes will eventually need to be repaired or replaced.
What is the Lord repairing or replacing in your heart home?

Ruth 1:16-17, "But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”"

Monday's Message

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Happy Weekend

I've just gotten word that a rainy day is falling in the life of
a precious friend.

When words fail and there's nothing you can do...

Think again...
One of the most treasured gifts we can offer someone is

I'm praying this verses over my friend today.
What verses encourage your heart?

Happy Sunshine Wednesday
my lovelies

I'm gaining so much insight from reading

The following passages continue to ring in my ears
and resonate in my heart.

"Satan's sin becomes the first sin of all humanity: the sin of ingratitude.
Adam and Eve are, simply, painfully, ungrateful for what God gave."
"Our fall was, and has been, and always will be, that we aren't satisfied
in God and what he gives. We hunger for
something more, something other."
Ann Voskamp

Are you reading this book?
Did the same passages impact your heart?
I hope you will share your lovely thoughts.
