Some of you may think I've really lost it when I tell you that I squealed with delight as our sons presented me with the Wii game system for Mother's Day. That's right, I squealed!
I was hoping for the game system for Christmas (I sound like a little girl) but being the hottest thing last year; our sons were unable to secure one.
You may be asking yourself "Why would a 50 something woman want a Wii game system?"
The answer is simple and multifaceted:
1) It will give our sons one more reason to come home just to hang out with their "parental units".
2) It's an opportunity to invite the neighbors in for a time of fun and fellowship as we challenge each other to a game of bowling, tennis or whatever other games are on the system.
3) The "Wii Fitness" will be available in June and I'm always looking for a new way to get in shape without exercising beside 20 somethings in their thong leotards at the Y.
4) Having a fun electronic game system is on my list of 51 things I've always wanted to do.
I'll share more about my list of 51 things in an upcoming blog.
When our son was checking out with the system he said the cute, young cashier made a comment about him enjoying the Wii and Josh said "Oh, it's not for me, it's for my mom!" The cashier replied, "You're kidding, what a cool mom!" Josh answered "You're right, my mom's the coolest!"
So there you have it... I'll let you decide.
Am I a cool mom or one crazy lady?
Please share your Mother's Day experience with us.
I'm holding a drawing; so post your answers here on my blog.
Every time you post between now and May 23 you are entered in the drawing for several gift cards.

Hi Zoe!
Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog. It sounds like you had a wonderful day with your sons! How exciting. I played the Wii once with my son at his cousin's house and it was a lot of fun. Also good exercise!
We spent part of the day celebrating mother's day and the other half celebrating my birthday. It was a wonderful relaxing day. Especially after getting back from a home school conference with my hubbie.
My youngest son gave me a stuffed monkey for mother's day. He knows how much I like monkeys. My other son gave me a coupon for a meal for two which he prepares for me and my husband and then money for us to go see a movie together. He also said he would watch his brother while we have a date night. What sweet guys!
Hope you have a great day.
Sweet blessings,
Pearls
Zoe,
YOU are a cool mom!! I have never played the Wii--my boys have always wanted me to play their video games with them and I declined. I DO NOT like to be laughed at!! But the Wii looks different and I love that may be it would be a good form of excercise without realizing I am excercising--you know what I mean!?!
My men made me breakfast on Sunday morning which was wonderful!! Then they presented me with a new printer for my digital camera--very cool!! But the bestest part was the "homemade" card from my 14 year old!!! Yes, 14 year old. He is very creative and made me a sweet card that brought tears to my eyes. I tried to not be too emotional about it for fear he may not ever do it again but it was just the sweetest thing!! I am blessed!

Hey Zoe!
You are definitely one cool mom! The Wii system is still one of the hottest gaming systems out there! Our youth group has one and we have borrowed it(one of the perks of Daddy being the youth pastor!)and played as a family. We had a blast! Let me know how the Wii fitness is, if you get it. I'm curious....
My Mother's Day started early, my wonderful husband surprised me on Thursday and dropped me off at Massage Envy while he took the kids to Sam's to go grocery shopping! He even threw in a Panera Bread gift card(which happened to be right next door)so I could have dinner after my GLORIOUS massage! It was my first massage ever, and I normally would NEVER have gotten one on my own. But I'm sooo glad I swallowed my insecurities and went along with his surprise!
On Sunday, we spent time with our Mom's and extended family, and played with all our nieces and nephews. All in all, it was a very nice day! My hubby and kids gave me a card from Hallmark that played Tina Turner's song "You're Simply the Best" It was so sweet, I showed it to everybody! Now, I can't get that song out of my head!
You are TOTALLY cool!!!!
I had to laugh when you wrote about being "parental units" - I have a friend that uses that expression all the time, but I've never heard any one else ever call themselves by that phrase!
I received 2 'cool' gifts for Mother's Day too - at least, I think they're cool. I received the new Anita Renfroe DVD - "It must be my thyroid" - It's hilarious!!! And I also received a Pink (and black) lap-top knapsack so I can travel with my computer! I was thrilled!!!! My husband and son also took me out to a fabulous restaurant for lunch - it was amazing - it even had a chocolate fountain for dipping fruit and marshmallows. Ok...call me a kid...but it was fun!
Happy belated Mother's Day!
